People Planet Passion: music special

The new TV program in the series ‘People Planet Passion’ is a musical travel around the world. From the USA to Bangladesh and Rio de Janeiro.

Guantánamo Bay
For singer-song writer Rich Wyman (USA) music is the way to express his feelings about the world. He is convinced that music can change the world because it is a universal language. In his song about Guantánamo Bay in Cuba he expresses his protest about the inhumane situation in this controversial Navy basis and prisoner camp for suspected terrorists.

In a poor country like Bangladesh art and culture have hardly any recognition. In spite of, or perhaps thanks to this the Bengalis don’t hold back in following their passion. Even if it is just on a couple of simple buckets or in a mattress padded dingy garage such as the case of Tanim and his friends. For the three musicians making music is their only release from the harsh reality of daily life.

Tears
The formation Ruby Indians from The Netherlands feels that inspiring people is the most important reason to cede the song ‘Tears’ to 1We. It is an absolute world hit about children of the streets of Rio de Janeiro and the contrast between the rich and the poor.

Back to the USA, where Rich Wyman wrote the song ‘Brand New Factory’ in which he expresses his concern about the environment. The song is all about carbon recapture which is capturing the carbon and breathing out oxygen. According to Rich the solution is a brand new factory which cleans the air we breathe and only replicates the trees, which are the lungs of the earth.
